Testing out the new dugouts on Saturday
Lucky for the extras the weather stayed fine and they could enjoy the sunshine sitting on patio chairs. The old dugouts have been removed because they have to be extended to hold eight people, because of new FA regulations. New portable dugouts are on order and we are awaiting delivery of these before the season gets underway.

FRIENDLY THIS SATURDAY  21/07/07
The weather held off for Ringmer's first friendly against Leatherhead, with a good showing of players from last season, Ringmer got off to a good start after scoring the opener after only a few minutes and held Rymans league Div 1 contenders for a good while, but the Tanners chipped away and made two goals fron Blues defensive wobbles. The visitors took it to 1-3 in the second half but Ringmer came back strongly in the second half to even the tally to 3-3.with to well worked goals. The Blues missed taking the lead after a missed penalty.

GOOD NEWS FOR BURGER FANS
There has been a successful take over bid on the Snack bar, Ray who has run the snack bar for a few seasons has retired and given up his tea bags and spatular to our very own Trudi who is also our excellent bar manageress and all round entertainer.
Trudi plans to run the snack bar for the time being and say's she will do her best to keep up with the pace that Ray set when he was here.
Her first pre run went well on Saturday and all the punters were very happy with the service and gave ten out of ten for the tea and chips. So all you ground hopping connoisseurs of the burger and chips don't worry Trudi is on the case.

- Friendly
Ringmer started this match with only one change from last week’s starting line-up with Glen Matten replacing Andy Hart at right back. For the second game in a row the Blues took the lead in the third minute when a cross from Nick Barden was met at the near post by Marc Whiteman with a glancing header.

RESERVE TEAM MANAGER STEPS DOWN

Peter Dunk has decided to step down as manager of the Reserve team due to other commitments which are incresingly taking up more of his time. Dunkie took on the role at the start of the 06/07 season and was troubled from the start.

With a turbulent pre-season  squad change around at the club, He had his work cut out from the off, almost  starting  out with a bare bone team  which found it hard to make any impression  on the newly aquired promotion into the Reserve Premier Division,  dogged with  injuries and the general player movements the season  would have been a hard task for even  the hardiest of managers. Despite the  hardships Dunkie always put out a team,  even filling in as goalie  on occassion's and kiting up just in case numerous times. The Reserve team played every match  (unlike some  others) and deserved to have had a better finishing position in the  final table, The team as a whole always tried hard and we witnessed some excellent football from them but team inconsistencies and bad luck let them down in the end.
The RFC thank's Peter for all of his efforts over the past season and wishes him well on any  new venture in the future.

Saturday's game was captured on film by the BB C to be edited and used at a later date. The camera crew were spotted on the clubhouse roof just before the kick off, but the filming almost did not take place after a main camera power cable went missing, luckily this was found in time for the kick off.
Sadly Ringmer's only goal was missed due to the camera operator choosing this time to have consume one of Dorothy's, Eclair du Chocolate! I was assured though that the most important bits of the afternoon were in the can.
The BB C (B.B. Cam) said that they hope to be back to film us later in the season for more out takes for the TV.

Inconsistent decisions rob Ringmer of a good win
Ringmer easily were the better side of the night and should have taken the win over newly Ryman South promoted Eastbourne Town. Ringmer dominated the play  after Town scored early after a Keeper cock up and went onto score three excellent goals. The visitors did not seem to have any answer as the Blues held them at bay, that was until Ringmer keeper and ball were forced over the goalline (normally known as a foul on the keeper) and two ridiculous sending off's gave Eastbourne two goals to equalize the match in the last ten minutes

                                              The Ruffles Report

Johnson revealed Tuesday's first pre-season session was a vast improvement on 12 months ago, when the club suffered a mass exodus of players. "Last night we had 45 people there – a year ago we had two. I was playing piggy in the middle with them. This year's a different kettle of fish; I know what I've got this year.
"If we can get it together nice and early, we can be contenders. Write us off at your peril."

Johnno gets off to a good start - 07/07/07
Ringmer boss Steve Johnson has secured the prestigious signing of former Lewes player Marc Whiteman, who was once on Manchester United's books. Johnson also revealed how he was hoping to tempt former Rooks captain Marc Cable out of retirement, after the defender suffered a bad injury last season. "I'm working hard to get him down here," admitted Johnson. "He's Ryman League standard."
