This Sussex Senior Cup tie saw Selsey and Ringmer battling to book their place in the second round and an away tie at Eastbourne Borough. Play as very scrappy for long periods and was largely confined to the middle third of the pitch.

What is the News Blog?
The News Blog hopefully will be a place to catch on the local football club news (mainly County one and the bigger clubs like Lewes etc) taken from various posts and newspapers. I will attempt to keep it up to date but we shall have to see how it goes

Ringmer FC August Newsdesk

The Reserve team however have had a major up-evil, being relegated after a torrid season in the premier division, some of the old reserve seem to have moved to other pastures. Manager Peter Dunk has also stepped down this season owing to other commitments. Not all has been lost though as a number of last seasons U18's who had appearances for the reserves and first team are with us, plus a few new faces keeping the team spirit. In the absence of a manager, 1st team coach Bechard Bejaoui (B.B.) will be at the helm temporarily. At the moment the first reserve fixture is for the 24th August when they are home to Bexhill United Reserves with a kick off of 7:30pm.

This year our U18's will be entering the FA Youth cup for the first time in over twenty years, however they face a difficult baptism at home to Haywards Heath, their league season in the Central Division  starts with an away game against Peacehaven on Sunday 2nd September 2007. A change of managers for the U18's as well in the form of Bob Munnery as manager and Steve Oliver as team Coach.
We wish all of our players well for the new season

LET THE SEASON COMMENCE
This Saturday (11/08) we kick off the 2007/08  season with a trip down to Chichester City Utd, Kick off will be at 3:00pm please try to be there and give support to the Blues.
Tuesday evening (14/08) we are at home when we take on Rye Utd, kick off at 7:30pm. Both matches are Division One games so your support will be gratefully appreciated. The first Cup tie will be next Saturday (18/08) when we are away to Farnham Town (nr Aldershot) in the Extra Prelim of the FA Cup. There will be no coach this year so please make your own way to the ground and perhaps car share with others if need be.

The Reserves team played their part in the double header on Saturday and did a considerable job against a very strong Chipstead reserve side. As most of the Blues team were raw recruits from this years U18 team plus a few from last years

U18's, it was alway's going to be a hard game for them. There was not one senior from last season to be seen, therefore the score 2-6 was an amazing feat from these lads,  putting up a brave fight. finding themselves in what is in effect Senior County football, when they

Raw Recruits step up to the Challenge

should be thinking about stepping up into the new U18 Squad, these lads deserve a big hand for the way they played and fought hard  on Saturday for their two goals. Well done to all who took part. The score this time does not matter to much, there was a good team spirit with flashes of good football, this mixture can be a recipe for a winning team, so keep your heads up, think positive and the game will come to you.

Goal 3
Mark Whiteman

With the beginning of the season only a few day's away, the mood in the Ringmer camp is very good. The club were very pleased as was Manager Steve Johnson, to see most of last years first team squad back again for another crack at the league title. Mark Whiteman, has signed on once more after his short spell at the club last season, which should improve our much needed fire power up front, Johnno has also signed forward Nick Barden, from

Hailsham Town FC, who will add a wealth of experience to what is largely a youthful side. Bolstering up the midfield is returning Jack Johnson, from AFC Wimbledon and able newbie Norbert Sule from Hungary, while at the back the long awaited Sam Adams, signed from Lewes and Andy Hart from Maidstone Utd,  the latest expected to sign is Dave Soutar from Burgess Hill.

The friendlies have been played now (except Saltdean) and as ever it was a testing time for the lads who were punching well above their weight, but they certainly held their own and in some cases out played the opposition, more importantly they scored goals. When asked how things were shaping up, manager Steve Johnson replied " Our performances in the pre-season friendlies has been very encouraging. Providing we can show more consistency than last

season and we get that little bit of luck, I see no reason why we should not finish in the top four in the league table and have a good run in one of the major cup competitions. I would dearly love to be the first manager of a Sussex club to win the FA Vase and I hope that club will be Ringmer this season." The Blues first league match of the season gets underway with an away match against Chichester City United this Saturday (11th August) at 3:00pm.

07/08/07 - Report-Saltdean 0 - 1 Ringmer Friendly
The start of the match was delayed by some ten minutes while the groundsman repaired a hole in the pitch. However the grass was long and the pitch was heavily rutted. In view of the conditions avoidance of injury was a top priority.                            The Ruffles Report

REPORT - 11/08/07 Div 1
Chichester City Utd 1 Ringmer 5
Ringmer's start to the season couldn't have been better with a 5-1 win over Chichester CU.  Ringmer controlled the game from start to finish, the only real hic-cup came when Chi was awarded a penalty for a said hand-ball, with the first saved by Matt May the home side were asked to try again, this time with a different kicker they scored.

third goal

Tempestuous, filthy, disagreeable, dirty, atrocious, wild and the weather was awful as well!
Ringmer had to contend not only with the awful weather conditions but had to endure a very physical Rye side at the Caburn last night, but brain over brawn overcame all and the Blues finished victors with a 4-2 win.
three excellent goals from Luke Gedling, Dan Evans and Mark Whiteman with Miles Scerri scoring from the spot.

REPORT- 18/08/07 Farnham Tn 1 Ringmer 4 - FA Cup EPR

Ringmer travelled away to Combined Counties team Farnham Town for their first tie in the FA Cup this year. Despite the damp conditions the game was played in the true spirit of football as both teams seemed to be on an equal footing. The match could have gone either way until the very end when Ringmer struck three times in quick succession to seal the game.

REPORT - 21/08/07 Ringmer 0  - 3 Crowborough Ath -  Division 1

Ringmer had their first defeat of the season last night and didn't even shake the net. Crowborough scored an early goal and defended strong from there on in, snatching two more in the second half. Despite Ringmer's endless efforts the ball just would not go in the net and some superb saves by the Crows keeper kept the Blues at bay.

REPORT-24/08/07-Ringmer 6 - 1 Bexhill Utd Res Sec East Div
An air of anticipation swept around the ground as Ringmer's new Reserve side took to the field for the start of the first reserve match of the season. After last seasons disappointing campaign from the reserves, gaining relegation back down to the East Division, almost every player in that team left to try their luck elsewhere.          Match Report

REPORT - 28/08/07 - Ringmer 2 - 1 St Francis - Div 1

Ringmer struggled at first to find their feet against a lively St Francis Rangers, loosing out in the first ten minutes with a mix up between defence and keeper to let the Rangers through to score. The Blues with most of the play throughout the first half could not find the net, they had to wait until the second to level with a cracking shot from Mark Whiteman. A hotly deputed penalty by the away supporters, was awarded to Ringmer in which Whiteman put the spot kick away to level and finally win the match

REPORT-30/08/07-Ringmer Res 2 - 0 Seaford Town - Res East
Ringmer's reserve side proved last night that last weeks 6-1 win over Bexhill was no fluke, with another well deserved win at the Caburn last night although they had a much tougher side to contend with. The visitors Seaford, were a more physical side than Bexhill and had the ability to strike fast up front, both teams played some good looking football at times which made it an enjoyable contest to watch.
