Eddie Kaboah story  12/12/07
By Sam Munnery  Surret online
The 22-year-old has been told he will never play again at county league level after seriously damaging knee ligaments on December 1.

Koboah had only arrived at Bridges from Ringmer during the close season and was just starting to hold down a place in the starting 11 when he suffered the injury in a tackle. The midfielder had to under-go emergency surgery as a result and although that has been a success,he was told by a surgeon that his football days are numbered.

YOUR SOCIAL CLUB
Ringmer Football Club has had a thriving social club since the early seventies, it has seen many pass through its doors over many years but sadly in this modern age it has suffered like so many pubs and clubs around the country and consequently the social aspect of the Club has dwindled.

Our social club (the Caburn clubhouse) is not full of rowdy footballers and supporters or unfriendly people quite the opposite in fact. Those that use the clubhouse know that you always get a warm welcome from the staff in a pleasant, comfortable and friendly atmosphere.

The social club is not just there for the footballing fraternity, no it is there for everybody, you don't even have to be a member to come inside and have a drink and a chat with your friends in the bar. As with all public areas the clubhouse is now a smoke free zone (there is a smoking area outside of the building) and the lounge area has ample seating and tables. The bar is managed by a professional manager and is fully stocked with top beers and lagers and we serve a great pint of the local Harvey's Ale. If you happen to be there on football day's you can alway's get Burgers, chips or one of Trudy's Bacon sanwiches from the food kiosk to eat in the bar. The Bar Staff will also provide Tea or Coffee if you don't fancy an achoholic drink.                                              ..................

Like any good social club there are social activities not only in the club's bar like Pool, Darts, monthly quizzes etc to name a few but also larger entertainment events in our function room when we hire artist and entertainers which makes a great night out. Other times we have keep fit classes, indoor bowls, line dancing classes etc. The function room can also be used for almost anything from flower festivals to meetings, dinners, and parties etc. Of course you can always hire this function room (at a very reasonable rate) for your own use be it for that wedding reception or 21st birthday party, it can be hired day or night and don't forget it can have it's own private bar (licensing hours apply) at no extra cost.

Like all social and working men’s clubs it relies on support not only from members but the local population too. A social club cannot survive with out a social life and a social life cannot exist with out somewhere to socialise. We need you to support our social club even if you are not a member come on in and give us a try, come along and meet new friends, bring your friends, We need new faces young and old and remember you can make a difference, we want to get this social club back to a thriving exciting place and we can do it with your support. Please remember also that you don't have to like football to use the social club some of our existing members can't stand it! Don't leave it to others, act now and make a difference, you may be surprised.
One question I am contiinually being asked is "do I have to be a member to come in?" and the answer is No! we are open to all, just come on in

SECOND PROGRAMME AWARD

Bridges' manager Paul Faili described the news as "heartbreaking", and he admitted it had affected the rest of the squad. Faili said: "It was not a bad tackle, it was innocuous so there was no malice. It was just one of those things where you twist and fall.
"[The squad] are absolutely devastated for Eddie but we have a job to do.It was a horrible thing to happen but you have to get on with it. "According to the surgeon it's 100 per cent that he won't play again. It's heartbreaking."

Koboah was injured in the fourth minute of injury-time during the 3-3 Sussex Senior Cup draw with Peacehaven & Telscombe when he was adjudged to have been fouled in the penalty area. Ligaments at the back of his knee are believed to have snapped, although the medical report is yet to reach the club detailing the specifics of the injury.

Although the surgeon has given Koboah bad news, Bridges are also planning to let Crawley Town physiotherapist Richard Massimo assess the player.
It is another blow to Faili who expects to be without up to six of his first team squad for this Saturday's match - and he is not even sure who they might play.
