RINGMER FOOTBALL CLUB LTD U18 Central Division Match Report Ringmer U18s 4 - 0 Pease Pottage U18s 06/09/07 Report by Rob Hawkes & Steve Frost
In their second league game of the season the Ringmer U18s backed up their away win last Sunday with a convincing home win against Pease Pottage. The game was played at a high tempo from the first whistle to the last, with some good quality football being played by the Ringmer lads who enjoyed the majority of possession in both halves.
Pease Pottage’s defence was first tested about 15 minutes into the first half when Robbie Frost’s header from a James Novis corner was cleared off the line. Five minutes later Robbie tried converting a goal mouth scramble but only managed to turn it just wide. Robbie’s persistent efforts were eventually rewarded 25 minutes into the first half with a spectacular left footed strike into the top right hand corner of the goal from 25 yards out. Ringmer continued to pressure the Pottage defence, but the first half concluded 1 – 0 to the home side. Justin Wood came on early in the first half as a frustrated Darren Brown had to retire injured.
Ringmer started their second half performance at the same furious pace as the first half and furthered their lead with a second goal from Robbie Frost in the 47th minute. Pottage had a chance after they were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute but Blues keeper Dan Davies, made the save to deny the visitors a goal. Two second half substitutes: Amro Shaker and Ryan Betsworth came on for Aaron Bright and Robbie Frost respectively and claimed a goal each to make the final score 4 – 0 to Ringmer.
It was an energetic, skillful and cohesive performance from the home side who seemed to have overcome some of their defensive frailties evident in Sunday’s game.
