Hassocks Res 4 - 0 Ringmer Res

Ringmer lost out to a strong Hassocks side who were better than us on the day. Bob Munnery was given the opportunity to field a couple of new players (Gray and Broomfield) and shuffle his squad of regulars. This may have been a factor in why it took Ringmer 20 minutes to settle and get to know each other and play the good football we are used to seeing from this side. By this time however they were 2 – 0 down with the home side scoring in the 10th and 19th minutes. Ringmer had a few good chances with notable efforts from Taylor and Gray, but they were unable to make them count. Hassocks continued to threaten the Ringmer goal and Matt May was called upon several times to prevent Ringmer slipping further behind

 

Ringmer started the second half with the same positive attitude as they concluded the first, but Hassocks effectively killed the game off with their 3rd goal the 58th minute. At this point Bob elected to freshen up the team with three substitutions: Shoult (60), Arnold (67) & Chessell (72) coming on for three of the U18s (Hawkes, Taylor & Wood), who would be playing tomorrow.

 

Ringmer showed great strength of character and kept trying to get back into the game with good efforts on goal from Sowter, Patel & Broomfield going just wide of the target. Hassocks scored their final goal in the 85th minute as Ringmer continued to press forward.
