RINGMER FOOTBALL CLUB LTD 2nd X1 Reserve Division East Match Report Ringmer U18s – 3 v 0 – St Francis Rangers U18s 21/04/08 Match Report by Rob Hawkes
Ringmer U18s finished their season off in style with a comprehensive victory over St Francis Rangers at The Caburn tonight. For Paul O’Donnell who has captained this side many times this season, Josh Lawrence who has also shared the captaincy at the start of the season and for James Earwicker it was their last U18s game for Ringmer. Each will be remembered for their strong uncompromising play and are three of the regular defensive line whose contribution will be difficult to replace next season.
Ringmer dominated possession throughout the game creating numerous chances. The first real chance falling to Amro Shaker in the 9th minute as Josh Lawrence worked his way to the SFRFC by-line and cut the ball back for Amro to side foot the ball just wide of the left hand post. In the 23rd minute Rob Frost had the first of his innumerable shots saved by the SFRFC keeper who had a good game particularly in frustrating Rob.
Ringmer finally made the break through just before half time when James Novis’s diagonal ball found Rob Frost on the edge of the area. Rob’s strike was saved by the keeper (again!) but the ball was only parried out as far as Andy Smith who fired home.
The second half started with early substitutions for both sides and it was Ringmer’s second substitute: Fred Stanley who set up Andy Smith with an excellent cross for Andy to connect with for his second goal of the evening. Rob Frost eventually got the better of the SFRFC keeper with virtually the last kick of the game. Jake Buckle’s perfectly weighted route one ball allowed Rob to run on to and finish with uncharacteristic venom, almost as if he had a lot of pent up frustration he needed to unleash.
The game concluded 3 - 0, allowing Ringmer to finish ahead of St Francis in the league in 4th place.
