We have started uploading now and you are now viewing these pages on the new hosts servers. This is still the 2007/08 Season website, the 2008/09 website will be along towards the begining of the new seaso.

RESERVES WIN PROMOTION

The Reserve team gained promotion to the Reserve Premier last night after beating Lingfield 5-1 away. This took them to second place in the table over Mile Oak. Unfortunately even with one more game to go against Redhill on Saturday they can't take top spot off of St Francis Rangers but the Runners up spot and promotion is a truly magnificent achievement for Bob, Steve and the lads.

Some of the Award Winners at the Presentation Evening

PRESENTATION EVENING

2008

At Ringmer FC’s end of season presentation evening last Friday, Chairman Richard Soan said that the tragic death of Herve King while playing for Ringmer overshadowed what in many respects had been a successful season. The first XI had reached the third round of the FA Vase for the first time in the club’s history. They also reached the final of the John O’Hara League Cup only to be beaten 9-10 in a penalty shoot out. In addition they reached the semi finals of the R.U.R. Cup and the Brighton Charity Cup. Pride of place went though to the achievements of the Reserves who finished second in the County League Reserve Section East to secure promotion and they also reached the semi final of the Sussex Intermediate Cup, for the first time since 1963, before losing 0-1 to the Sussex County League Division 3 champions, Loxwood. Many of the Reserve players also played for the youth team. Even more remarkable, and a sure sign of the club’s commitment to bringing on the young players, 25 Reserve or Youth team players also featured on merit for the first XI during the year.

Richard Soan then presented the Reserves squad with their runners up medals.

A new award, the Herve King Memorial Trophy, was donated to the club by the family of his partner Sarah Benkel and fittingly the initial recipient of the Trophy was Luke Gedling who did much to help his team-mates overcome the tragedy. The presentation ceremony then closed with a special presentation to Peter and Dorothy Brook in recognition of the work they had done for the club over the last few years.
