Match Team and Report

RINGMER 1st X1 3 - 1 LINGFIELD 1st X1

Division One

13/04/10

Report by the Crouch's

Ringmer claimed another three points on Tuesday night beating visitors Lingfield 3-1. All three home goals came from Aaron Philips, giving him the honour of being the first hat trick scored this season for the Blues 1st X1.

Ringmer started brightly and were soon testing Lingfields back line with Sam Sowter down the right, crossing to Jo Tubon, who's early shot was blocked. However it was Lingfield who had the first real chance of the match after Ringmer keeoer Tom Rand was beaten as he came out for the ball, luckily for Ringmer the end shot went wide. Then on 12 minutes on a Blues counter attack, Philips played a long ball out to Joe Dryer, high on the left wing, who beat his man and passed back to the centre, a clever dummy by Mark Price let the onrushing Philips to blast in a first time shot from 20yds into the back of the net.

Another run by Sowter again found Tubon in the centre who headed just over the bar. A few minutes later good link up play between Matten and Tubon found Sowter who's shot was pushed out by the Lingfield keeper Adam Woodward, but only too Aaron Philips who shot over the bar.

Ringmer continued to play a more controlled game opposed to their last match, more chances came for Price, Tubon and Philips with Sam Sowter and Glen Matten working hard feeding from the right. Lingfield almost equalized on the half hour with almost a copy cat goal, Rand again getting caught as he came out, this time the shot was cleared off the line by Jon Marzetti. Back at the other end Price and Tubon rose to head a Matten cross onto the roof of the net. Then on 39 minutes excellent work by the Blues in mid-field fed Joe Dryer out on the right who goal bound shot from 24 yds out was punched out but again only only to an awaiting Philips who blasted in his and Ringmer's second goal. Then 4 minutes later the visitors pulled one back with their no 9, Panni Ortis, beating Rand, 2-1 at the break.

Second half and Ringmer carry on their good work, early chances from Jayson Sowter, Price, Tubon and Dryer all come close. J Sowter got on the end of a Dryer cross but the keeper saved well, Then Sam Sowter put over a great cross which Price headed just over. Then Tubon received a bad throw by the Lingfield keeper but his off balance shot hit the upright, Dryer too had a shot close in the went narrowly wide.

Lingfield then come close from a throw in half way down the Blues line, the long throw bounced around on heads in front of the Ringmer goal until a lingfield boot shot just over. Back at the lingfield end Keeper Woodward had to punch away a Tubon effort after a Matten cross. A few minutes later Woodward made another good save after a Ringmer throw in had Price chip over to Philips who once again hit a goal bound volley this resulted in a Ringmer corner, from this the ball was crossed over and headed down by Marzetti too the shooting foot of Philips who again who this time made no mistake with his shot into the net for his third.

Lingfield's attack somewhat softened as their frustration worsened and the Blues defence comfortably dealt with any advance while Marzetti, Price, and Dryer continued too badger the Lingfield defence, he Blues now passing at the other end with ease. Jon Marzetti going close heading just wide then Kieran Mercer with a run through the middle then out to S Sowter, then to Dryer who's cross was met by Price, his shot being deflected out for a corner. The final whistle came with the final score at 3-1 to Ringmer

.
An excellent team effort and a well deserved win for the Blues.
