Match Team and Report
Ringmer 1st 4-1 Shoreham 1st Division One 08/05/10 Report by the Crouch's
For this the final league match Ringmer had a bench bursting with resting players ready for Thursday nights Brighton Charity Cup final against fellow County one outfit Wick FC, giving a few of the others a chance in a very different starting line up.
A scare for the Blues on five minutes as Shoreham pounced with a cross from the right which was headed just over the home bar. However this was probably the last good chance the Musselmen had on the Blues net all match, that was until a soft penalty was given to them 5 minutes before the final whistle.
The Blues then started to take control of the match, a free kick in from the right by Elliott Finney found Joe Dryer who headed just over the visitors bar, good play between Sam Sowter, Kieran Patel and Ryan Storrie a few minutes later had Patel shoot just over.
Ringmer's first goal came after only 14 minutes when (S) Sowter made good progress up the right wing, crossing in to Ryan Storrie, who shot into the bottom left corner beating Shoreham's keeper. Mick Hunter.
Ringmer continued to dominate the rest of the half with good efforts coming from Tubon, Dryer in quick succession which Hunter blocked well, Shoreham then in a rare attack shot from distance but high over the Ringmer bar. On 20 minutes Storrie ran through the middle on goal and crossed to Tubon who shot was deflected wide for a corner. Shoreham then had a free kick into the Blues area but the final shot was again skied high over. With ten minutes to half time Ringmer surge again with Tubon and S Sowter coming close, Louis Brown at left back was working well feeding Dryer up the left, Dryers cross picked up by Sowter (S) who's shot was saved by Hunter.
Then in the last minute before the break Sowter (S) hit a powerful shot that slammed into the visitors cross bar the rebound falling nicely for an equally fierce follow up shot by Tubon some 20 yds out to score his and Ringmer's second goal..
A change for the Ringmer second half as Darren Lok replaced Patel, a couple of minutes later it was Lok who put away the third for the Blues after Tubon had battled hard for the ball to cross into the visitors area. In the next minute defender Finney's free kick in from the right had Lok score again but only to be deemed offside, a few minutes later David Altendorff came close shootingt onto the roof of the visitors net.
Again Ringmer dominated proceedings with good passing football, chances coming from Altendorff, Lok, Storrie and Tubon. Shoreham could not breech the Ringmer defence of Soutar, Marzetti, Brown and Finney, and but for a handful of free kicks gave Trott little to do in goal. The final straw came for Shoreham when a high back pass/clearance from in front of the visitors goal saw the ball dip dramatically and go behind the luckless Hunter in the Shoreham goal for Ringmer's 4th. In the 71st minute the ref awarded a penalty to Shoreham, this Rob Boddy put past keeper Trott for a concilation goal. The final whistle sounded the end of the 2009-10 season without further incident with a 4-1 win for Ringmer.
A bizarre incident just before kick off had players and officials frantically mending a broken goal post. An extremely powerful shot by Darren (I'm told) pre kick off, hit the crossbar at such a rate that it dislodged it from the upright on one end. All was well though after a bit of sticky tape and know how it was soon mended and the match got under way.
A quick thank you to Andy M who helped Sally with getting the report details correct.
Well done to all the players and managers for a very interesting season of football in difficult and frustrating times at the club. We very much look forward to next season and to what it brings. |
