RESERVE EAST DIVISION

Report by Steve Frost

Redhill won their last game 13-0, so Ringmer knew that they could score.

For most of the game Ringmer were able to mange Redhill attack however over 90 minutes the laws of probability would suggest that Redhill will find the net, they did, six times. However, unlike Redhill’s last opponents, Ringmer found the Redhill net 4 times.

The Redhill website describes the game as a “brilliant encounter at Kiln Brow”. Ringmer gave a good account of themselves however they probably left the ground disappointed. It seemed that every shot Redhill had on target went in, which included a penalty, whereas Ringmer’s shots hit uprights, crossbars or were pushed wide.

The sequence of goals went 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4-2, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4 and then 6-4. As you can see, Ringmer were at one time 5-2 down at 75mins, they then came back to 5-4 at 84 mins and were going for the equalizer with Redhill nervous that Ringmer would succeed when Redhill broke and killed Ringmer’s valiant efforts. If a few of the Redhill shots had met the fate of Ringmer’s this would have been a different score line.
