Match Team and Report
Ringmer verses Bexhill United on Sunday 18/10/09

BEXHILL UTD U18 2 – 2 RINGMER U18

SCFY EAST DIVISION

18/10/09

Report by Brian Henderson

The team had to travel down to Bexhill for the second consecutive Sunday but this time to play a league game.

Again the team was changed with Todd Hammond at left back, Kris Lambert in centre of defense and Chris Bates up front with Ben Courtnage. This match was expected to be close and this proved to be the case.

Bexhill started much the better side and scored their first goal after only 8 minutes, at that stage Ringmer were second best in all departments. However slowly they began to play properly and were soon creating chances but, as is the pattern recently, these were either squandered or the Bexhill keeper made a save.

Then on 25 minutes Charlie Miles put a great ball through for Jordan Lee to collect and score a well deserved equalizer. The first half continued with the same pattern of creating and not taking chances and at half time the scores were level but we should have been well in the lead.

The second half was a continuation of the first but it was again Bexhill who scored a goal on 55 minutes. Just afterwards Lewis Finney was substituted by Jordan Allen and with a switch round of positions Ringmer were soon attacking again. Then in the 65th minute we were awarded a penalty which Ben Courtnage took but it was very well saved by the keeper.

Taylor Briggs was substituted on 65 minutes by Ben Thompsett, a straight swap of mid field players and Ringmer continued to press. The final change was when Todd Hammond was replaced by Joe Seymour on 80 minutes. Our equalizer was scored by Ben Thompsett on 88 minutes. He headed home a pinpoint cross from Brown.

Bexhill then pressed very hard in the final few minutes and created several good chances but Phil in goal made 3 or 4 great saves to preserve our point.

So a draw it was but on the number of chances created Ringmer should have won the game so it is a case of 2 points lost. We have a break next Sunday and this will give players a chance to get over any injury.
