RINGMER U18 4 – 0 HAILSHAM U18 SCFY EAST DIVISION 15/10/09 Report by Brian Henderson
Ringmer resumed their league campaign on Thursday evening by entertaining Hailsham, this being the return fixture.
The team was changed yet again with Jake Allen at right back and Joe Seymour at left back and Chris Bates in midfield. Ringmer started strongly against the leagues bottom team and were soon threatening their goal, scoring their first on 12 minutes. Charlie Miles played a great through ball to Jordan Allen who coolly finished.
Play continued in the Hailsham half and the pressure was maintained, 5 minutes later Ringmer were rewarded again when Jordan Allen sent a great cross over which was met by Lewis Finney to score his first goal of the season. Another goal quickly followed on 20 minutes. L Brown played a great ball out of defense to L Finney who after a run sent a pinpoint cross over which Taylor Briggs met to score. At this stage it seemed that Ringmer would run riot but they eased off and their play became disjointed which allowed a spirited Hailsham back into the game. However there were no further goals so we led at half time 3-0.
Kevin, whilst satisfied with the lead, was concerned that the team had stopped playing the way that had led to 3 goals so urged the team to resume their normal short passing game.
The second half saw Ringmer largely in control but without really threatening the Hailsham goal. Therefore on 60 minutes there was a double substitution with Ben Courtnage and Todd Hammond replacing Joe Seymour and Charlie Miles. These substitutions allowed Ringmer to increase the tempo and almost immediately they scored the 4th goal. Ben Courtnage crossed the ball from the left and Taylor stepped over it allowing Jordan Lee to rifle home a shot. The final substitution was on 73 minutes when Kris Lambert replaced L Finney. Hailsham continued to press and on 82 minutes Phil in goal had to make a good save to keep a clean sheet. At the final whistle the score remained at 4-0. On Sunday we travel down to Bexhill again to play the United youth team. |
